Powerspec Updates
My only complaints are, the odd placement of the power cable in between the side exhaust and and HDMI, but it is by no means unmanageable, just a con because I have to manage it at all. Also, the top left surface gets a bit warm (possibly uncomfortable but certainly not hot or burning) near the CPU exhaust, but it is not a place that contains any buttons or a natural resting spot. The fan speed offset has helped. Build quality seems fine so far, and I like the finish as it is black and not prone to fingermarks. Weight is not too bad, but that can be relative.

Fortunately you’ll only need to this once—but it’s ludicrous that you need to do it at all. The PowerSpec laptops ship with a flagship feature disabled. Worse, the activation’s hidden behind an arcane process that’s never made obvious to end users. And get this: Switching to the discrete GPU bumps the PowerSpec 1710’s display refresh rate from the default 60Hz up to 75Hz. (No such luck on the PowerSpec 1510, alas.) I’ve never seen a laptop configured this way and honestly, the only reason I puzzled out the solution was because I saw an Intel graphics option while right-clicking the desktop and was savvy enough to recognize what that indicated.

They sent me one of the boards and I spotted the problem and reported it back to them. But, in theory, they may have let some bots out of the factory with C20 but the incorrect firmware. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's the case. At any rate, I figure there's people with C20 who don't enjoy auto-reset.
